Sunflower Lane Massage

Types of Massage

                             Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is what most people think of as "regular massage".  Swedish massage usually consists of long effleurage strokes, kneading of individual muscles and sometimes tapping or vibration of body parts. Swedish massage has many benefits, including relaxation, stimulation of better circulation and relief of muscle pain and stiffness. It is one of the best, all-around massages for stress relief. Swedish massage can be combined with aromatherapy, stretches, and other types of bodywork as needed or desired.

                           Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage is an extraordinary form of massage that combines all of the comfort of Swedish Massage with the healing, relaxing benefits of heat application. Heated stones of various sizes are placed on different areas of the body that are typical tension holders. The therapist then uses additional heated, oiled stones to massage the muscles with gliding strokes, which eases pain and melts away tension while soothing the mind. At Sunflower Lane we usually enhance the Hot Stone Massage experience with the use of essential oils chosen specifically for their particular healing properties. You may request that only unscented oil is used in the case of any allergies or sensitivities.

                            Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage uses specific massage techniques designed to ease the common muscular discomforts of pregnancy while relaxing the mother-to-be and enhancing the well-being of both mother and baby.  Pregnancy Massage is generally safe during all trimesters of a normal pregnancy. If you are experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, we will ask for specific permission from your attending physician or midwife regarding what types of techniques may be used during various stages of your pregnancy. Special positioning with pillows will be employed at different times during pregnancy to enhance your comfort during the massage session.

                                      Stress Reduction Massage

This is a luxurious 1½ hour massage which specifically targets the muscles of the back and shoulders that are prone to holding our tension and stress. It includes all the benefits of a full-body Swedish Massage, with the addition of selected essential oils that are massaged into the muscles along the spine with small strokes designed to soften and smooth these muscles out and melt away knots and tension.

                                     Integrative Massage

Integrative massage is a term I sometimes use to describe my massage technique that involves the use of several massage modalities within the same massage session.  As a therapist working on a client, I often choose to apply a variety of techniques to treat whatever problems I may find while I work.  This approach results in a better overall outcome for the client and more complete relief from any problems or discomfort you may have been experiencing.
